It's always exciting to welcome new chaplains and we recently commissioned three new ones in the Canterbury region: Maui Stuart (Maori Chaplain – Christchurch Hospitals), Graeme Hight (Christchurch Hospital) and Eddie O’Connor (Burwood Hospital).

The service was held in the Burwood Hospital Chapel on Thursday 11 July, 2024. Chaplains from the four Christchurch Hospitals took part in the service alongside locums and Volunteer Chaplain's Assistants. Harry, the Burwood cat was also in attendance!

 

The Rev Dugald Wilson, whose father was one of the pioneers of hospital chaplaincy in Aotearoa, spoke at the commissioning service before light refreshments were enjoyed by attendees.

It was a special and joyful occasion with many stories and much laughter shared.
